Thanks to everyone involved, our Ludlow Railyard Heritage Festival was a great success! This event was to raise funds toward our storehouse restoration work. Our city plaza and storehouse area attracted our guests with music, food and fun. We had several choices to offer for food, including TacoThisTacoThat; the soft pretzels and drinks from Ludlow Coffee and those extra good bakery items from Ivory & Feather Baking Co. Also, Beverly Ann’s Cookie Truck and Kona Ice were both there, too, so we had the food/drink aspect of the event well covered. Our other vendors offered choices such as handmade jewelry from A & A Factory; original artwork from Mundo Naez; jewelry and skin care items from Ulterior Motives.

Authors Micha O’Connor and Bob Schrage sold and signed their books. Giles Kennedy set up for Operation Lifesaver and gave away coloring books and crayons and other railroad related items. The reaction from our vendors was very positive with some asking to come back next year! Our musical entertainment began with Randy Wallace on the keyboard providing familiar tunes and some of his own original songs. Cincinnati’s DAT BAND, a seven instrument group, had the crowd singing along and dancing, too. Don & Esther Drewry brought along their musical instruments and performed on the hammered dulcimer and harp. All the while, dressed in their Civil War era attire. Another feature included Mr. Richard Stoney with his railroad bell and whistles. The kids loved ringing the bell and the whistles certainly attracted attention to our festival! We also had a checkers table and a cornhole set…both of which were in constant use by our guests. As always, the caboose X554 was popular, as was the train viewing platform to watch the trains go by.  Thanks to Julie Navarre and Julia Wartman who hosted the Ludlow Historic Society table. Also, to Yolanda and Chloe Mitchell at the Ludlow Heritage Museum table. Our other volunteers included Joe & Lise Tewes, Ruth Bamberger, Andy Corn, Patrick Snadon, Jim Cicchetti.

In recognition of our sponsors…American Eagle Rail Group; Ideal Supplies; Hater Hardware; R B Jones Funeral Home and to Mike and Carol Kirkwood…thank you!

I also want to mention some of those people behind the scenes that deserve our gratitude - Shane Hamant and our city workers; Ludlow PD; Laurie Sparks and the city leaders who have always supported our efforts; Mayor and City Council members…thank you! Special recognition goes to Mr. Andy Wartman, who so successfully led this year’s event planning. He also made a great spokesman live on WLWT to announce our event last week. Andy is amazing for all that he accomplishes for our organization and our community. Thanks, Andy, for all that you do!

From all of us at the Ludlow Heritage Museum and the Ludlow Historic Society, we appreciate your financial support and volunteer work for the Ludlow Storehouse project.
